M57 (NGC 6720) is a planetary nebula in the constellation Lyra commonly known as the Ring Nebula.
The picture was taken with a modified Canon Rebel on a TEC 140 from the Alpenglow-Torrey House Observatory in the dark sky community of Torrey, Utah (Bortle 2-3) on October 20th 2022. 10 3-minute frames stacked in Deep Sky Stacker = 30 minute exposure.
The object was discovered by Charles Messier in 1779.
Planetary nebula are remnants from exploded stars.
This is part of my complete/simplified (no comp frames, unguided, quick processing) Messier object survey.
Nice one, Mark. You did well to capture the Ring with a DSLR.
