Messier 27

M27 (NGC 6853) is a planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula commonly known as the Dumbbell Nebula.

The picture was taken with a modified Canon Rebel on a TEC 140 from the Alpenglow-Torrey House Observatory in the dark sky community of Torrey, Utah on October 15th 2022.

Charles Messier discovered it  in 1764 with his telescope in Paris and the name “dumbbell” goes back to a description by John Herschel, son of the great astronomer William Herschel.
